Butterfly Garden wins Every Can Counts – Green Can Award

The Butterfly Garden based in Cheltenham have received a national recycling award for their outstanding work in recycling and helping the local community.

The Butterfly Garden received an Every Can Counts Green Can Award after collecting, sorting and crushing thousands of cans in a bid to increase drinks can recycling the Cheltenham and Tewkesbury areas.

The Butterfly Garden was formed in 2002 and aim to provide an environment for safe learning and development for young adults in the community. The project has grown from strength to strength over the years and collections come from a variety of sources including supermarkets, the civil service and event venues.

Presenting the award Kate Cole Programme Manager for Every Can Counts says “It is a privilege to present a Green Can Award to the Butterfly Garden project which has achieved brilliant results over the last year in recycling. This is a fantastic example of how collecting and recycling drinks cans not only generates much needed funds it also makes a significant contribution to the environment”.
Chris Evans Project Leader for the Butterfly Garden says “The Butterfly Garden are delighted to be the recipient of an award this year. Our students are totally committed to recycling and feel that they are making an obvious, purposeful contribution to a cleaner local environment. We thank Every Can Counts for this recognition and for their kindness and support in recent years”.
